With snow at our feet but Spring style in the shops we wanted to get you all in the mood for SS18 by layering some Spring pieces that we have spotted in the shops recently with warmer pieces. We are huge fans of layering and in particular putting a pair of jeans under maxi dresses. This is a trend we have been a fan of for a while now and feel it gives a real effortlessly cool feel to any look.
We have picked out a few maxi dresses on the high street right now that we think are the perfect layering pieces. Over jeans, under knitwear or on their own with tights and long boots we have got you covered! We have also linked the other pieces we have suggested just incase you wanted to get the full look!

First up is this gorgeous yellow dress from H&M. This would look amazing with jeans and boots or jeans and trainers. The button up detail means that you can have have it a bit more open at the bottom to show off the jeans and perhaps pop a statement belt around your waist to give the dress a little more shape. Layering this dress gives you the warmth you need whilst getting to wear the colour of the moment!

This Textured Spot Warehouse Dress is so on trend right now with it’s Polka dots and ruffle detailing on the arms it would be rude not to have it! We love the white boots with it as shown on the model but for a bit of a mix up we think it would look amazing with a pair of fun ankle socks and block heel sandals. Furthermore, if you could bear to cover up that gorgeous arm detailing for more warmth pop a cream roll neck over the top and a contrasting cross body bag. This dress is super flattering with the way it goes in at the waist and the perfect length to lengthen your legs.

The colour of this Topshop wrap dress is so vibrant it is perfect for spring and ideal for layering! Pop a plain black roll neck underneath it and a pair of black tights with some sock boots and you are ready for the perfect chilly spring day! In love with the shoulder detailing on this along with the texture.

No matter what Miranda Priestly has to say about it you can not go wrong with florals for spring. The tones of pink and green in this Warehouse number below are so gorgeous we had to include it. We love how feminine the neck line and sleeves are and how the colour is on a black base. This is however, not one we would put with jeans. This would look amazing with a pair of socks and trainers to keep it casual and a longline coat with perhaps a zip up hoodie (undone) in between for an extra layer! And while I’m fantasising about this look as I write this I think a low ponytail would be the perfect finishing touch.

The final spring dress for layering we wanted to share with you was this beauty from Topshop. We are a sucker for leopard but the hint of yellow makes the print less pre Christmas and more pre Spring! We would pop our beloved flared jeans under this along with a plain roll neck and some ankle boots. I love the fact that you can be wearing a plain and comfortable outfit on underneath but adding this layer adds another level of sass to your look.
We hope this has given you a bit of inspiration to get wearing these beautiful dresses that are in the shops right now even though you are feeling chilly. Remember not all clothes have to be worn just as they are. Mix things up a little bit, get layering and have fun with it!
